Deployment of AI in companies grew 4% in 2018 to 14% in 2019. AI deployment in organizations is accelerating and grew more than 200% during the last year.

Top Applications

• Augmented Intelligence was picked as the top application / trend. Augmented Intelligence is a human-centered partnership between people and AI. Since AI and humans are better at different things, this leads to the logical conclusions

AI Winter

AI has gone through many winters, and the overall AI space is not likely to see an AI winter. However, some specific applications or closely related technologies may face AI winters. For example,

• Quantum Computing: The killer apps here are Quantum Computing and business optimization. The market size may not be large enough over the short-term. Many physics, engineering and mathematical problems also need to be resolved.
• Self driving cars: Can self driving car make ethical choices?
• Artificial General Intelligence (AGI): Not too about this one. I would argue that many solutions that utilize transfer learning or even unsupervised learning in some cases can be classified as a form of AGI. On the hand human type AGI is many years away.
